The wood used to make this lamp is Mango, which is a species of flowering plant in that sumac and poison ivy family anacardiacae, Is native to the Indian subcontinent where it is indigenous. Hundreds of cultivated varieties have been introduced to other warm regions of the world.

 The  mango that was used in this lamp was grown and harvested here in on the island of Hawaii and milled and seasoned at Kamuela hardwoods in Waimea.

  Instead of traditional rice paper,the fabric for the shade is recycled Japanese kimono silk mounted on plexiglass. Prolong exposure to direct sunlight may cause the fabric colors to fade. Use only LED light bulb to prevent possibility of heat buildup.
