Milo or Miro, is popular in Hawaii for woodworking, commonly turned into bowls because of the range of colors, tan, yellow, red. The trees are regarded as sacred in Polynesian culture.
The wood for this andon was harvested by Kamuela Hardwoods on the island of hawai'i.
Instead of traditional rice paper,the fabric for the shade is recycled Japanese kimono silk mounted on plexiglass. To prevent the fabric from fading, please do not expose the lamp to prolonged outdoor light. Use only LED light bulb to prevent possibility of heat buildup.
